Full Moon and New Moon Ceremony; Moon Cycles & Inner Balance in Koh Tao

The moon is a powerful spiritual symbol of cycles,  endings that gently give way to new beginnings. Ever-changing yet constant, it reminds us that transformation is a natural part of life. In Hindu belief, the moon reflects the dance between feminine Shakti energy and masculine Shiva consciousness, moving together in rhythm through each lunar phase. This sacred connection between energy and awareness supports growth, change, and spiritual balance.

At Baan Talay Resort & Yoga, we honor these rhythms by embracing every cycle of the moon through an intentional Full moon and New moon ceremony. Each gathering is offered as a moment of wellness and retreat,  an invitation to pause, realign, and gently rebalance feminine and masculine energies in tune with the natural cycle of the moon.

Full Moon and New Moon Ceremony at Baan Talay Resort

Each phase of the moon invites us to pause, reflect, and return to balance. Our Moon ceremonies are held monthly, depending on the lunar calendar, and are guided by our beloved family members, Devrim & Turan Zahir.

Rooted in personal practice and shared intention, every moon ceremony is thoughtfully designed as a space for wellness and gentle retreat, through guided breathwork, conscious breathing exercises, and powerful chanting with sacred music. Participants are invited to slow their breath, quiet their mind, and reconnect with their body. These practices support emotional release, inner clarity, and a deeper sense of presence.

Full Moon Ceremony

As we mentioned earlier, the Full Moon represents Shakti, the divine feminine energy. For this reason, we invite everyone to dress in white, symbolizing purity, openness, and renewal. Our ceremony begins around 6:00 PM, just as the moon slowly rises, allowing us to align with its natural energy from the very first moment.

Guided by gentle breathwork and mindful breathing exercises, the evening unfolds with chanting and movement that follow the rhythm of the feminine, soft, intuitive, and deeply grounding. This intentional flow creates space to release, receive, and reconnect, embracing the nurturing and transformative essence of the Full Moon.

New Moon Ceremony

In contrast, the New Moon represents Shiva, the masculine energy, grounded, steady, and inward-focused. For this ceremony, we invite participants to dress in black, symbolizing stillness, depth, and the space of new beginnings. The ceremony begins around 6:00 PM, aligning with the quiet moment of the moon’s rise.

The evening is guided through intentional breathwork and focused breathing exercises, accompanied by chanting that follows the rhythm of the masculine, strong, steady, and grounding. The New Moon ceremony supports clarity, presence, and the setting of new intentions as we move gently into the next cycle.
