As of this last month, Baan Talay Resort Koh Tao has stopped using plastic bottles in order to further reduce our impact on the island’s increasingly delicate ecosystems. We have entered into a partnership with S&S Water to supply our guests with drinking and soda water in reusable glass bottles, that are returned to the manufacture to be cleaned and refilled. This is just one more step in our efforts to protect the island where we live and work, and reduce our resort’s waste stream. This is a continuation or out environmentally sustainable efforts which also include:
- Constructing our resort in harmony with the land, keeping as many trees as possible and not changing the topography of the hillside
- Controlling erosion through green ways, proper design, and landscaping
- Eliminating wastewater release to the ocean to protect our fragile coral reef
- Reducing pollution by using biodegradable and chemical free soaps in all our bathrooms and showers
- Reducing bycatch by sourcing our fish in the restaurant form local fisherman who use hand rods instead of unselective methods like nets, cages, or trawling
- Limiting our carbon energy footprint by sourcing our produce locally, whenever available
- Reducing energy consumption by designing and using materials in our rooms to reduce energy consumption for lighting and temperature regulation
Join us as we continue to find new ways to reduce our ecological footprint while still providing a luxury vacation experience that you will cherish all your life.
